The real truth about pom pups is that they just aren’t too terribly cute when they are born, but that makes the transformation they go through in the first few weeks even more amazing! All of the new babies have their eyes open now and they are finally starting to look more like a puppy….still no real personality yet and the only motivation for moving is “rooting” for milk….it is so funny to watch them nurse….as soon as they have gotten some from one place they scramble to the next available nipple and everyone makes the big “switch”. This goes on several times until everyone has had a taste from each nipple! Hilarious…so afraid someone else is going to get something different or more than me! Somehow they all manage to get plenty and they roll around with the biggest, roundest little bellies…I don’t know how they even stay upright.
So cool too to watch the moms “nuture” and care for their babies. They are constantly keeping them so clean and making sure everyone is happy and warm. They are so proud of their “brood” and quick to make sure any wandering pom knows not to get too close….views from a distance only. I love this time when the moms are doing such a good job….in a few weeks I will be doing their job and that’s a lot of work! “grin” But totally worth it…. When they start responding to your voice and wagging their tail and being so happy to see you, well, you just gotta love ’em!
BABIES GETTING CUTE!
ONLY IN TEXAS
February 22, 2010
Yesterday was such an INCREDIBLE day! Temperature reached almost 80 and my peach trees are blossoming. The poms were romping and playing and so happy to be lounging in the sunshine. I sat on my swing for the longest time in such appreciation for the cool breeze and the warm sun and the hint of Spring in the air. Such a lovely day that I was motivated to go out and do some gardening this morning. Read the tips by the experts from pest control olympia that helps to avoid pests from invasion. Much to my surprise it was so cold that my breath was making smoke and I was suddenly only motivated to come back inside and have hot chocolate…I listened to the weather forecast only to find out that we are under a winter storm warning and businesses and schools may be closed tomorrow due to ice and snow!!!! I can only compare the weather here in Texas to female hormones… You women out there know what I am talking about! “grin”…..you never know what to expect!
So….I am finding indoor projects to do and making sure all the pups and babies are snuggly warm….we’ll just have to wait a few days for gardening and I have also planned to contact experts from pest control vancouver to avail pest control services to make a healthy garden… Just when they think it is finally time to display their wondrous beauty and entice the butterflies….only to discover ice the next day! Only in Texas….
UPDATE
February 19, 2010
Just wanted to thank everyone for all the congrats and well wishes on our newest litters. Moms and babies are doing great and babies are getting fatter and cuter by the day. It is fun watching them tranform from scrawny little creatures to a thing of beauty in just a few weeks.
If you are considering a new baby and can’t imagine what they may eventually look like, check the PASTPOMS (bottom of the available page) to see past babies, or I can email you pictures from previous litters. It sometimes helps to see what they may look like in a few weeks.
One of the interesting things about pomeranians is the way their coat changes in the first year/s. We have seen some of the sables turn out much different than we would have expected…but always so lovely!
I am looking forward to seeing some new “green” and signs of Spring in the next few weeks….my favorite time of the year. I know many are still under snow, but here in Texas our winters are short! We are using the fireplace as much as possible while we can! “grin”.
Wishing you all a super weekend.
