A DAY OF JOY AND SORROW

February 6, 2010
Finally, after several very long days, BB finally went into true labor last night and had a classic delivery of five gorgeous pups….some of the prettiest she has ever had. They were all born within a span of an hour and a half and she barely had time to cut the cord and clean them before the next one was born! They all seem to be healthy and strong and we are so glad they are here! I do have two deposits on this litter, so as soon as the choices are made from the litter I will post them as available on the available page. I will be sending out announcements today and should have a picture of the litter up by tomorrow.
Here are the stats:
Colors are hard to tell this early on the dark ones, but the boy is definitely black.

#1 Female/blue/orange sable? born 6:30 p.m. 3 1/2 oz.
#2 Male/white/ born 7:00 p.m. 4 oz.
#3 Male/champagne/ born 7:20 p.m. 4 1/8 oz.
#4 Male/black/ born 7:45 p.m. 3 5/8 oz.
#5 Female/cream sable born 8:00 p.m. 4 1/2 oz.

We thought the day was ending on such a high note, however, sadly Missy went into premature labor around midnight and delivered 3 stillborn babies. They were not fully developed and we are devastated by the loss. We will be taking Missy into the vet today to see if all of the babies were delivered and to see if we can discover what prompted her to go into labor so early. We also want to make sure she is ok too. She is so confused and upset and it is very sad to watch her grieve for her babies.
I know there are several of you who were really excited about the possibility of adopting one of these babies and I am so sorry for you as well.
Much like life….one can never expect the unexpected.
